Job Summary

Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Director of Inuit Employment and Training. This position is responsible for ensuring that the commitments to full representative levels of Inuit Employment workforces in Nunavut are being effectively and creatively met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve the objective of Article 23 by the Government of Nunavut and the Government of Canada;
  • Research, analyze, and prepare policy recommendations related to Inuit employment and training;
  • Coordinate with other NTI departments and staff to implement the May 4, 2015 Settlement Agreement with the Government of Canada and Nunavut;
  • Oversee the effective management of the Mikigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation and its associated funding;
  • Develop and manage project budgets and financial plans;
  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff to ensure the successful implementation of Inuit employment and training initiatives;
  • Collaborate with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote Inuit employment and training opportunities;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Inuit communities and organizations to ensure that their needs and concerns are addressed;
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Inuit Employment and Training team to ensure the successful implementation of Inuit employment and training initiatives;
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations;
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Inuit employment and training initiatives and make recommendations for improvement;
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field such as business administration, public administration, or a related field;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role in a government or private sector organization;
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful employment and training initiatives;
  • Strong understanding of the Nunavut Agreement and NTI's mandate;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Fluency in Inuktut is an asset;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines;
  • Strong leadership and management skills;
  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures;
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Inuit employment and training initiatives;
