Overview

The Human Resources Coordinator serves as a key advisor to senior management and staff, overseeing all aspects of Human Resources functions within the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority. This role encompasses strategic HR initiatives, comprehensive recruitment processes, workforce planning, policy formulation and implementation, employee relations, performance evaluations, compensation management, compliance with governmental regulations, training programs, and the development of HR initiatives.

This position leads a team of three HR professionals, ensuring effective daily operations in Human Resources, Compensation and Benefits, and Health and Safety programs. Additionally, the Coordinator acts as the Freedom of Information Coordinator.

Qualifications
  1. A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation within two years.
  3. A Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association.
  4. A current and satisfactory Criminal Records & Judicial Matters Check is required.
Experience and Skills:
  1. A minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources Management or Payroll.
  2. In-depth knowledge of HR legislation, regulations, and policies, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Ontario Human Rights Code, with practical application experience.
  3. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information regularly.
  4. Understanding of conflict resolution principles and alternative dispute resolution methods.
  5. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Exceptional communication skills with various stakeholders, including community members, government entities, and external organizations.
  7. Prior experience in supervising, mentoring, and coaching a team.
  8. Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and other database management software.
Compensation and Benefits
  1. Grade 9: Competitive hourly wage.
  2. Full-time position, 35 hours per week.
  3. Eligible for hybrid work arrangements.
  4. Comprehensive benefits package, pension plan, and vacation entitlement.
