Role SummaryThe Team Lead, Operating Room at Prairieview Surgical Centre, a division of Surgical Centres Inc, is responsible for overseeing the operating room team. This position requires an experienced Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to work Monday through Friday.

The Team Lead will:
- Ensure the availability of appropriate material resources for quality patient care while managing these resources within budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate with the facility Manager and clinical resource nurse to undertake quality assurance initiatives, ensuring accreditation readiness.
- Act as the primary point of contact for physicians and staff in the operating room, facilitating communication regarding new procedures and surgeons.
- Develop strategies with the facility Manager to enhance clinical processes, improve timeliness of care, and optimize operating room efficiency.
- Adhere to infection control policies and medication administration procedures to protect patients and staff.
- Document patient care accurately in medical records and perform related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A valid Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse designation in good standing with the Canadian governing body.
- Essential operating room experience and perioperative nursing certification.
- A strong understanding of patient and staff safety policies that promote a safe and inclusive environment.
- The ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations, including emergencies.
Operating room nurses may encounter challenging conditions, including exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and other safety hazards.
Vaccination (COVID-19 and others) is a requirement of the role unless exempted for medical reasons as per applicable human rights legislation.
Leadership AccountabilityThe Team Lead, Surgical is accountable for the overall leadership and management of the operating rooms within Prairieview Surgical Centre, adhering to the policies, values, and standards of the Centre.
This role necessitates full-time presence and active participation in surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient care and safety.
The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional focus, precision, and professionalism in all aspects of their work within the operating room environment.
