We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Professional to join our team at Island Health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health and/or alcohol and drug use issues, as well as knowledge of applicable legislation and available programs.
Key Responsibilities- Apply the nursing process as required, adhering to BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards of Nursing Practice.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in the care and treatment of mental illness.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote positive change and independence.
- Prioritize and organize client demands and care needs.
- Operate a personal computer with various software applications.
The successful candidate will possess a recognized post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing and/or mental illness, as well as two years of recent related experience. A valid BC Driver's License is also required.
Skills and Abilities- Sound judgment, good observation, and client assessment skills.
- Tact and empathy in dealing with patients and families.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and teaching skills.
