Position Overview

As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing patient care through your expertise in nutritional science. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive nutrition assessments to determine the dietary needs of various patient groups.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of nutrition care strategies and suggesting modifications as necessary.
  • Utilizing professional judgment to adapt and enforce guidelines and standards of care in alignment with patient needs.
  • Investigating new trends and innovations in dietary practices to assess their applicability in clinical nutrition.
  • Providing educational support by creating and facilitating training programs and workshops.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, complemented by an accredited dietetic internship.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
  • Membership with Dietitians of Canada is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics, and adult medicine.
  • Proficiency in neonatal parenteral nutrition support and involvement in the Pasteurized Donor Milk Program.
  • Experience in both Enteral and Parenteral nutrition support is essential.
  • A comprehensive understanding of clinical nutrition requirements across varied patient demographics.
  • Exceptional communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt swiftly to changes in patient care and the healthcare environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the capacity to advocate for patients and the profession.
  • Competence in utilizing information technology to support practice (Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel, Meditech Expanse, Computrition).
  • A collaborative spirit to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; Day shifts, 8 hours (subject to operational needs).

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate.
