Role Overview

The Creative Design Strategist is responsible for the strategic planning, design, and execution of innovative and interactive services across the organization. This role adopts a cross-functional approach, providing essential support to various divisions while leading or assisting in specialized marketing initiatives related to graphic design, brand stewardship, web/application development, and digital innovation. With substantial experience and demonstrated leadership in key projects, this position has the potential to evolve into a more senior classification.

A clean criminal record verification is a prerequisite for this role. This background check will be conducted by a third-party prior to your commencement of employment.

Qualifications We Seek

  • Submission of a portfolio showcasing previous creative work is mandatory.
  • A completed certificate or diploma in creative and/or graphic design is required.
  • Over 5 years of experience leading graphic design initiatives or functions within an organization, managing projects from concept through to execution with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in brand development and management of brand style guidelines.
  • Experience collaborating with creative professionals at external advertising agencies across various mediums (e.g., video, interactive content, copywriting, photography).
  • Experience in budget management is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud or similar software.

Success Metrics for the Position

Indicators of success in this role include:

  • Effective planning, development, implementation, and management of web applications across the organization.
  • Successful management and implementation of brand strategies across divisions.
  • Establishment and management of design, production, and implementation workflows, balancing in-house creative production with outsourced projects.
  • Alignment of creative quality with business needs, market objectives, and brand standards.
  • Timely delivery of assigned projects within scope and budget, in accordance with change management requirements, with effective closure and hand-off.

Key Responsibilities

In leading interactive and design services across various divisions, this position will be accountable for:

Web Development

  • Facilitating front-end web development services, including wireframe creation, user experience and interface design, website element configuration, and application of brand styling/standards (utilizing HTML, JavaScript, and CSS).
  • Providing guidance for back-end web development, including planning for core logic structure, network configuration, API implementation, and database integration.
  • Leading stakeholders through current state assessments, gap analysis, and use case development for websites and mobile applications.
  • Assisting in the development of roadmaps for website platforms in collaboration with divisions and stakeholders.
  • Managing the inventory of URLs/domain names across divisions and corporate entities.
  • Co-managing vendor agreements and relationships related to website development and support.

Brand Management

  • Establishing and managing a comprehensive brand repository to maintain an inventory of creative assets across all brands.
  • Overseeing brand creative standards across divisions and corporate entities, ensuring proper application and evolution over time.
  • Maintaining and refining brand style guides.
  • Monitoring and reporting on public usage and mentions of brand names, including news media and customer feedback, addressing issues as necessary.
  • Contributing to and overseeing the execution of brand activation plans across divisions.
  • Providing direction to agencies/vendors regarding brand standards.
  • Staying informed on trends and innovations in brand activation and relevance across industries.

Creative Services

  • Co-developing a resource strategy to establish corporate guidelines on in-house versus outsourced production.
  • Implementing a comprehensive workflow pipeline to manage design, approval, production, and implementation stages of creative projects.
  • Co-approving proofs and creative deliverables produced by agencies/vendors for divisions and corporate entities.
  • Providing graphic design services across divisions, including managing project timelines, preparing and presenting drafts, guiding copy development, designing collateral, ensuring quality assurance, leading stakeholder review processes, and collaborating with agencies/vendors as needed.
  • Working with Marketing Managers and Executives across divisions or at the corporate level to deliver impactful creative presentations.

  • Leading the planning and execution of special projects, while also participating in project teams and corporate committees as a subject matter expert.
