About the Role

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Credit Analyst to join our Lending Services department in Canada. As a Credit Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the overall success of our team by executing individual goals, plans, and initiatives in support of our business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Focused Culture: Champion a customer-centric culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Loan Growth and Profitability: Contribute to loan growth and profitability by analyzing customer loan applications, determining customer affordability, and performing structured and analytic functions on loan applications.
  • Sound and Timely Due Diligence: Ensure sound and timely due diligence in loan underwriting by investigating, evaluating, and documenting customer loan applications, following up on outstanding loan-related information, and managing the credit review process.
  • Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Operational Risk Management: Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  • People Strategy: Champion a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates your team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision, values, and business strategy, and managing succession and development planning.
Requirements
  • Direct Experience: Direct experience in prime or non-prime financing adjudication is preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Communication Skills: Superb written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Credit Analysis: Experience in credit analysis is necessary.
  • Technical Skills: Functional knowledge of MS Word, Excel, credit decisioning, and loan application software is required.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are not a common occurrence.
  • Operating Hours: Operating hours are Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 11:00pm EST, Friday 7:30am to 9:00pm EST, Saturday 9:00am to 8:00pm EST, and Sunday 10:00am to 7:00pm EST.
  • Language Requirements: Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English and French because they will serve English-speaking clientele.
