About the Role

The Stores Clerk A plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of healthcare services throughout Nova Scotia Health. Reporting to the Manager or designate, this position assists with the receiving, organization, distribution, replenishment, and tracking of inventories and supplies.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent planning, organizational, and priority-setting skills, with the ability to work in a self-directed environment and effectively within an interdisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as leadership skills, are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and unloading trucks, shipping, receiving, and distributing supplies
  • Ordering and replenishing inventory, handling equipment, and other materials procured for NSH
  • Providing exceptional customer service and responding to urgent requests or general inquiries
  • Operating and maintaining equipment, such as electric pallet jacks and manual pallet jacks
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area and dock
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing education programs
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, priority-setting skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, as well as leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of the SAP computer system is preferred
  • Previous experience in a central stores/purchasing environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory control is preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of and current relevant experience with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of Materials Management Service in the delivery of patient care and understanding of how errors may affect medical treatment and cause financial loss
Working Conditions

This position requires considerable standing, moving, bending, kneeling, and lifting of heavy and awkward objects. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
