Position Overview: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Manager, Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations within the newly established Procurement, Contracts, and Supply Logistics Branch. Reporting directly to the Director of the Branch, this position is integral to the leadership team, focusing on the implementation of the Branch's strategic objectives and fostering an environment conducive to success in various operational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a modernized supply chain framework, encompassing warehousing, inventory oversight, and the management of materials and equipment.
  • Implement quality assurance protocols, including the management of equipment issuance, inspections, and asset recovery processes.
  • Provide operational support through logistics expertise, enhancing the efficiency of supply operations, vendor management, and courier services.
  • Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service to EPS members while managing effective operational practices.

As a pivotal member of the leadership team, the Manager operates within a collaborative accountability framework. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills and mindset to thrive in a cohesive business and customer service environment, ensuring the alignment of supply chain operations with procurement and contracting services. This role will also spearhead strategic initiatives aimed at modernizing operational practices and service delivery.

Leadership and Development:

The Manager is responsible for fostering professional growth among staff, promoting continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with established service standards. Specific duties include:

  • Formulating and executing supply chain management strategies that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring and reporting on budget expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Implementing business processes and technology solutions to optimize supply chain and warehouse operations.
  • Establishing internal controls and loss prevention measures to safeguard inventory assets.
  • Enhancing distribution networks and operational logistics through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with operational partners and vendors, including contract management.
  • Providing leadership and development opportunities for warehouse supervisors and staff.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to identify and address operational gaps, facilitating continuous improvement.
  • Performing other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, social sciences, public administration, engineering, or a related field. A postgraduate degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of seven years of diverse experience in procurement or supply chain management, with at least five years in a leadership capacity within a large organization.
  • Certification as a Professional Purchaser (CPP) or Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) is required.
  • Additional professional designations or leadership certifications, such as Project Management or Governance Professional Certification, are highly desirable.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is essential.
  • Proficient knowledge in warehouse operations, inventory management, and supply chain planning.
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is preferred.
  • Strong human resources management skills, including recruitment, coaching, and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.
  • Proven organizational skills to manage competing priorities and complex projects.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Applicants may be subject to testing.
  • Successful candidates will undergo an Enhanced Security Clearance as part of the pre-hire screening process.

Work Schedule: 36.90 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Work hours may vary based on operational needs.

Compensation: Salary Grade: ML3, with an annual salary range of $128,000 to $161,000.
