Job Summary

The Senior VDC Coordinator will be responsible for leading the implementation of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technology across our projects. This will involve collaborating with project teams, stakeholders, and vendors to develop and implement BIM Execution Plans and VDC strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans and VDC strategies across multiple projects
  • Collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure successful implementation of VDC technology
  • Manage and maintain BIM data generated from various sources throughout design and construction
  • Develop solutions with project stakeholders by performing model-based design and constructability review, clash detection, and visualization
  • Manage and maintain Revit models to contain COBie data for asset management
  • Conduct VR walkthroughs of the future built asset with clients to address design concerns
  • Work closely with design teams to develop building designs throughout various stages of design milestones and ensure compliance to project information requirements and BIM standards
  • Work closely with field teams using intelligent building models to track progress on site and contribute to overall project schedules and plans
  • Proactively identify potential coordination issues and act as a subject matter expert for design software products and BIM-related issues while maintaining best practices
  • Facilitate reality capture, utilizing LiDAR, drones, and 360 photography for model integration, QA/QC, analysis, and visualization
  • Help project teams navigate the expanding world of construction technology by teaching and mentoring them as they learn new software and workflows
  • Participate in software testing, R&D initiatives, and continue personal and professional growth
  • Be a part of the VDC community to build on EllisDon's rich history of innovation as leaders in the construction industry

Requirements

  • University degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, M&E, or related field
  • 3-5 years of professional experience with focus on BIM Management, Modeling, and related technology
  • Experience in 3D laser scanning, 360 photography, and LiDAR would be an asset
  • Experience working with COBie data would be an asset
  • Experience with ISO 19650 standards would be an asset
  • Relevant experience in engineering and/or construction fields, including document production and M&E coordination works
  • Advanced experience in Revit, including interoperability tools, AutoCAD, and Navisworks is required
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud is considered an asset
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and/or Bluebeam
  • High level of knowledge interpreting design and construction drawings
  • Passionate about the construction industry and innovation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent organization, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • BIM-related training or certifications considered an asset (Building Transformations, BuildingSMART)
  • RPAS (Drone) operator Certification (or the ability to achieve) to operate drones on our project sites. Experience with drone deploy would be an asset
  • Self-motivated, passionate, innovative, and creative
  • Ability to interact with external entities (clients, owners, agencies) to interpret and understand desired BIM or CAD delivery requirements
