About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled 2nd Class Power Engineer to join our team at the Victoria General Hospital. As a key member of our Central Heating Plant team, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining the plant and its auxiliary equipment. This includes monitoring the steam boilers and distribution system, central refrigeration plants, and ventilation systems through the building energy management system.

You will work on a 24-hour rotating shift basis, reporting to the Chief Power Engineer - Victoria General Hospital. In this role, you will be required to receive and respond to urgent building-related calls during silent hours, including holidays and weekends.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in power engineering, with a valid Interprovincial Second Class Power Engineer License. You will also require two years of experience in a high-pressure plant (steam) and associated equipment. Travel to other sites may be required, and you will need a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be working independently and interacting with various stakeholders. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 90-hour bi-weekly schedule. The hourly rate is $35.28, and successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

Successful candidates may also be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract. This position is currently eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $192.31 biweekly.
