Suisha Gardens is in search of a skilled Executive Chef to enhance our culinary team at our vibrant dining establishment. If you possess a deep appreciation for Japanese gastronomy and have accumulated at least 5 years of experience in a comparable position, we would love to hear from you.

  • Employment Type: Permanent

  • Hours per Week: 30 hours
  • Educational Requirement: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Preferred Languages: Japanese
  • Work Environment: Noisy, Odours, Hot, Cold/refrigerated
  • Work Setting: Restaurant
  • Chef Roles: Sushi chef, Head chef, Sauce chef, Meat chef, Fish chef
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate operating expenses and other relevant data
    • Showcase innovative cooking methods and equipment to kitchen personnel
    • Oversee specialized chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff
    • Develop new recipes
    • Guide cooks in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes
    • Prepare and cook meals for special events and banquets
    • Manage kitchen staff
    • Design menus and uphold quality standards
    • Prepare meals for patrons with dietary restrictions
    • Recruit and onboard new staff
    • Supervise sous-chefs, specialized chefs, and cooks
    • Lead and instruct team members
  • Team Supervision: 3-4 individuals
  • Required Certifications: Safe Food Handling certificate
  • Culinary Specialties: Sushi preparation techniques, Teppanyaki, Japanese cuisine
  • Food Expertise: Eggs and dairy, Fish and seafood, Meat, poultry and game, Stocks, soups and sauces, Vegetables, fruits, nuts and mushrooms
  • Work Conditions: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling
