Position Summary

We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our team. This role is crucial in maintaining quality assurance and ensuring that we meet compliance standards while satisfying our customers. The position demands physical stamina and is suited for individuals who thrive in a dynamic technical setting. The Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various laboratory and mechanical testing instruments, including bend testers, hardness testers, cutting saws, sample polishers, and microscopes.
  • Prepare steel plate and pipe samples using oxy-fuel, plasma torches, and CNC robotic plasma cutters.
  • Accurately prepare and label samples for testing, ensuring they are sent to the laboratory promptly.
  • Adhere to detailed testing protocols and document findings according to established guidelines, sharing results with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the Mechanical Tester with daily tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to fulfill business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience in mechanical testing is essential.
  • Familiarity with ASTM, API, ASME, NACE, and other testing standards is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and follow complex technical procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in data entry, both alpha and numeric, across various software applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Solid mathematical skills.
  • Experience with operating machinery and equipment, including lathes, band saws, and milling machines.
  • Proficient in oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting, and CNC operations.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments with varying heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, and noise, while also managing high-value laboratory equipment.
  • Willingness to adapt to a flexible work schedule, including potential overtime.
