Powerline Technician

_Battle River Power Coop is a cooperative electric utility in Central Alberta supplying electricity to about 8500 rural members. BRPC has over 60 employees engaged in all aspects of power distribution from installation to maintenance to billing, all administered from the same office near Camrose, Alberta._
- **Journeyman Powerline Technician**_

We are looking for a highly motivated and positive individual to join our team in a service position as a Journeyman Powerline Technician. Your service area will be all rural - spanning from Camrose, south to the Red Deer River and as far west as Pigeon Lake having the flexibility to live anywhere within the service area.

**General Summary**:

- In your designated service area, you will perform patrols, as well as do repairs and maintenance on current utility infrastructure.
- Assist in maintaining a reliable distribution utility and work on projects to improve and upgrade the infrastructure.
- Respond to and trouble shoot power outages and other power issue calls, recognizing, assessing, and controlling potentially hazardous situations.
- Work order management and completion including communication with members and third parties to arrange underground locating, energizing services, member concerns, escorting high load moves, service upgrades etc.
- This position includes a service truck to take home daily allowing you to start and end your day at home when appropriate.
- Power outage & trouble stand by and on-call rotation after typical working hours.
- Freedom to schedule your own day.
- Occasional collaboration and working in a crew environment.

**Qualifications**:

- Red Seal Journeyman Powerline Technician Certificate.
- Effective organization and planning skills with a background using Microsoft Office.
- Self-starter with the ability to work productively and independently.
- Excellent interpersonal, team participation and communication skills.
- Strong distribution operation, maintenance and construction knowledge and skills.
- Willing to be included in an on-call rotation.
- Strong safety principles and values.
- Lives within the area between Alix, Pigeon Lake, Camrose, Meeting Creek.
- Team working skills are a must.

**Hours of Work**: Hours of work are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding provincial statutory holidays.

Overtime can be paid out at the overtime premium rate or banked at the same rate up to 80 hours annually and used for additional time off or to be paid out at a later date. BRPC covers one set of lineman gear to complete your job; this includes your climbing gear and all PPE, a tool allowance will also be paid out annually.
