Job Title: Truck Helper

GFL Environmental is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Truck Helper to join our team at our Espanola and Blind River, ON sites. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection of solid waste materials from residential trucks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and load solid waste/recyclable materials from customer premises and/or curbside locations.
  • Sort recyclables and deposit materials into the appropriate compartments in the collection truck.
  • Assist drivers in safe vehicle operation, including backing up and close-space maneuvering.
  • Work closely with supervisors to improve routing efficiencies and maintain predetermined route quality standards.
  • Ensure personal protective equipment is worn at all times and follow all safety and equipment checks.
  • Assist with cleaning the interior cab and exterior of the vehicle.
  • Perform various tasks as needed, including sorting, cleaning carts, and stacking pallets.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired.
  • One to three months of related experience or training preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred but not required.
  • Ability to meet relevant safety criteria for safety-sensitive functions.
