Waste Collection Assistant

GFL Environmental is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Truck Helper to join our team at our Espanola and Blind River, ON sites. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient collection of solid waste materials from residential trucks.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect and load solid waste/recyclable materials from customer premises and/or curbside locations.
- Sort recyclables and deposit materials into the appropriate compartments in the collection truck.
- Assist drivers in safe vehicle operation, including backing up and close-space maneuvering.
- Work closely with supervisors to improve routing efficiencies and maintain predetermined route quality standards.
- Ensure personal protective equipment is worn at all times and follow all safety and equipment checks.
- Assist with cleaning the interior cab and exterior of the vehicle.
- Perform various tasks as needed, including sorting, cleaning carts, and stacking pallets.
- High school diploma or equivalent desired.
- One to three months of related experience or training preferred.
- Valid driver's license preferred but not required.
- Ability to meet relevant safety criteria for safety-sensitive functions.
