Job Summary:
This posting is for a Facilities Maintenance Assistant position at the City of St. Catharines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the facility and grounds to ensure a safe and clean environment for visitors.
- Conduct regular inspections of washrooms and replenish supplies as needed.
- Collect and set out garbage for collection, and ensure proper disposal.
- Clean and maintain grounds, sidewalks, parking lots, and viewing platforms.
- Provide excellent customer service to visitors, responding to their inquiries and concerns.
- Monitor and report any issues, vandalism, or misuse of facilities to management.
- Operate and secure alarm systems, and perform opening and closing duties.
- Assist with setup and teardown of on-site events and functions.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the maintenance and operations of the facility.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions, and communicate effectively with colleagues and visitors.
- Good physical condition, with ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and WHMIS certification.
- Completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
CUPE 1287 Pay Group 1 – $19.28 to $22.04 per hour.
Expected Work Location: St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canal Centre.
Hours of Work: up to 24 hours per week.
