We are seeking a skilled Employment Counsellor to join our team at the Developmental Disabilities Association. As an Employment Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve their employment goals.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will work closely with clients to identify barriers to employment and develop strategies to overcome them. You will provide guidance on job readiness skills, job search strategies, and interview preparation, as well as administer and interpret tests to determine clients' interests, aptitudes, and abilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess clients' employment needs and develop personalized plans to achieve their goals
- Provide one-on-one support and guidance to clients on job readiness skills, job search strategies, and interview preparation
- Administer and interpret tests to determine clients' interests, aptitudes, and abilities
- Collaborate with community groups, agencies, businesses, and organizations to provide career planning support and resources
- Perform administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping
- College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1-2 years
- 1-2 years of experience in a related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
