Job Summary

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a skilled Boom Truck Operator to join our team. This full-time position involves operating a boom truck to transport building materials to various construction sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate a boom truck to transport roofing and building envelope materials to construction sites.
  • Complete pre-trip truck inspections and notify maintenance when necessary.
  • Transport loads in a professional manner, following road rules and representing the company with the highest standards.
  • Verify load security and accuracy.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the truck interior and exterior.
  • Deliver materials to customer satisfaction, prioritizing safety, service, and efficiency.
  • Operate the boom/mobile crane safely while loading and unloading.
  • Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites.

Manual Unloading

  • Deliver materials by hand, maintaining a focus on safety, customer service, and efficiency.

General

  • Maintain a focus on safety, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities.
  • Maintain contact with dispatch and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Work flexible hours to complete delivery orders.
  • Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Level A Crane Ticket is an asset, but training will be provided.
  • Minimum two years of experience is an asset.
  • Comfortable working at heights in a harness.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to read and speak English.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Physical requirements include:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs.
  • Sitting and driving for long periods.
  • Frequently climbing up and down stairs.
  • Pulling, pushing, bending, and torso twisting movements to transfer materials between truck and job site.
