About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Department Manager to join our team at Smith + Andersen. As a key member of our electrical department, you will be responsible for leading a team of electrical engineers and technicians to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers and technicians to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to identify new opportunities and grow the electrical department
  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members to ensure designs comply with company standards
  • Manage department recruiting efforts, annual reviews, timesheet and expense report approvals, performance management and team member relations
Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of electrical project engineering experience within a building services environment
  • Strong leadership qualities and experience in managing a team
  • Able to work independently as well as work with a local and national team of leaders
  • Able to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects, deadlines and clients
  • Solid understanding of provincial building code(s), Canadian Electrical Code, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES and NFPA standards
  • Exceptional business development skills, along with experience in preparing proposals
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Sound judgement, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communications skills for both internal and external parties
