JOB SUMMARY
The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department is dedicated to fostering a healthy, inclusive, and vibrant community. Our mission is to ensure that residents and visitors have access to recreational and cultural venues, programs, events, and services that enhance their experience in the city. You will oversee the management of Public Skating Programs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and supervising site-specific Public Skating Programs.
- Directing and guiding participants during skating sessions.
- Handling cash transactions and providing excellent customer service.
- Implementing risk management procedures to ensure safety.
- Performing general administrative tasks related to program management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have:
- Completion of Grade 10.
- Leadership Training is considered an asset.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in an administrative or cash handling role, particularly in a public-facing environment.
- Previous experience in leading recreational activities and guiding participants.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Required certifications include:
- Current Standard First Aid certificate.
- Current CPR - 2-rescuer certificate.
- Current AED Operator certificate.
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
KNOWLEDGE
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Proficiency in skating, including the ability to skate forwards, backwards, perform cross-overs, and stop effectively.
- A working knowledge of the department's facilities and programs for appropriate referrals.
- Instructional skills in basic skating techniques are advantageous.

- Compliance with uniform requirements as provided by the City of Ottawa.
