The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recreation Program Supervisor to join our Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising a variety of recreation programs for diverse age groups and disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and lead recreation programs, ensuring high-quality services and experiences for participants.
- Develop and implement program plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with program staff and stakeholders.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate program staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional programs.
- Monitor program finances, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with departmental policies.
- Collaborate with community partners, stakeholders, and other City departments to promote recreation programs and services.
- Post-secondary education in Recreation or a related field (desirable).
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in staff supervision, staff development, and public relations.
- Experience in training, supervision of staff and volunteers, and program development.
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates.
- AODA Customer Service/IASR Training.
- Certification in the relevant recreation program (asset).
- Mature and excellent public relations, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team setting or independently.
- Computer competency necessary.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter, flexibility, and proven team leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex demands simultaneously.
- Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only, or bilingual competencies.
- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction.
- Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
