Work Environment: Telesat values collaboration and the importance of in-person interactions. Employees typically work from the office Tuesday through Thursday, allowing for flexibility on Mondays and Fridays to work where they feel most productive. Role Overview: As a Software Build Coordinator, you will be instrumental in managing the build, release, and deployment processes of software products developed within a SAFE Scrum framework. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, DevOps engineers, and product owners, to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software releases.
Main Responsibilities:
- Oversee and enhance the build process for software development projects adhering to the SAFE methodology.
- Configure and maintain build automation tools, such as GitLab CI/CD, to ensure efficient and reliable builds.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and program managers, to integrate build processes into the overall workflow.
- Work with DevOps teams to optimize deployment pipelines and infrastructure configurations.
- Define and implement build strategies, including continuous integration, daily/nightly builds, and release builds, aligned with releases and program increments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot build failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Ensure the integrity and security of the build environment, including managing build artifacts, certificates, and access controls.
- Enhance build performance and scalability to support the Agile development process, considering factors such as build speed, resource utilization, and parallel execution.
- Implement and maintain build metrics and dashboards to provide visibility into build health, quality, and performance.
- Stay informed about the latest build tools, technologies, and best practices, proposing improvements to the build process.
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in software build and release management roles, preferably within an Agile or SAFE Scrum environment.
- Strong proficiency in build automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD), version control systems (e.g., Git), and deployment automation technologies.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) and build configuration languages (e.g., Groovy, YAML).
- Understanding of software packaging, dependency management, and artifact repositories.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex build issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, Agile development environment.
Decision Making & Supervision:
- This role does not have direct reports but will interact with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
Working Conditions:
- This position offers a hybrid work environment.
- Working conditions are generally comfortable, typical of an office environment.
- International travel may be required.
