Job Title: Engineering Manager at BlackBerry QNX

BlackBerry QNX is a leading supplier of secure operating systems, development tools, and services for embedded systems, trusted by top Electric Vehicle manufacturers worldwide. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team in creating cutting-edge software solutions for hardware peripherals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set team objectives and priorities based on product vision and strategic goals
  • Manage a team of 8-12 engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship
  • Develop and retain talented team members through effective talent management and succession planning
  • Drive innovation and continuous development through research and development initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, sales, and marketing
  • Ensure software development meets specialized safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Handle performance management and career development for team members

Expertise Required:

-Experience in bootloader and board bring up, with a strong understanding of embedded systems architecture

-Driver development for peripherals, with expertise in device drivers and kernel development

-Unix internals and embedded development using C, with a strong understanding of operating system concepts

-Knowledge of embedded operating systems and processor architectures, with experience in software development for real-time systems

-Experience in complex architectural designs, with a strong understanding of system-level design and integration

-Familiarity with DevOps concepts and tools, with experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment

Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

-Minimum 10+ years of experience in techno-managerial roles, with a strong track record of technical leadership and people management

-Experience in technical leadership and people management, with a strong understanding of talent management and succession planning

-Proficiency in embedded operating systems, with experience in software development for real-time systems

Additional Skills:

-Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines, with a strong understanding of cross-functional team dynamics

-Experience in software development following safety standards, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements

-Knowledge of software development processes and tools, with experience in agile development methodologies
