About the Role

The University of Waterloo is seeking a highly skilled Digital Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our University Relations department, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality digital content, including websites, email campaigns, and social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Creation and Management
    • Develop and implement a content strategy that aligns with the University's marketing goals and objectives.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create engaging and informative content for various digital channels.
    • Ensure all digital content meets the University's brand standards and accessibility guidelines.
  • Web Development and Maintenance
    • Manage and maintain the University's websites, including content updates, user interface design, and information architecture.
    • Collaborate with the web development team to ensure seamless integration of digital content and user experience.
  • Marketing and Communications Reporting
    • Develop and implement a reporting framework to measure the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns.
    • Provide regular updates and insights to stakeholders on digital marketing performance.
  • System Administration
    • Manage and maintain digital communications systems, including user access, documentation, and training.
    • Ensure the integrity of customer relationship management (CRM) data and perform regular updates and data transfers.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • University degree in business, communications, marketing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 4+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in a large organization or public-sector institution.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in proofreading and editing content.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
    • Demonstrated expertise in website best practices, including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
    • Intermediate to advanced use of current digital management tools, including HTML email campaign software, Google Analytics, and social media management systems.
