About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director, Software Engineering to lead our technology team in delivering innovative and scalable e-commerce solutions. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of our technology strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technology Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to our technology team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver complex customer-facing solutions, ensuring timely and consistent delivery of new features.
  • Team Management: Develop, recruit, and retain top engineering talent, ensuring a high-performing team that values innovation and collaboration.
  • Scalability and Performance: Ensure the scalability and performance of our e-commerce solutions, serving millions of customers daily.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate project status and issues to executives and stakeholders, collaborating with multiple business and technical teams to define and deliver complex solutions.
  • Problem-Solving and Escalation: Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and make tradeoffs to balance business needs versus technical constraints.
  • Project Management: Plan and manage multiple parallel projects, ensuring timely and consistent delivery of new features.
  • Methodology Improvement: Work with the product management team to continuously improve our product development methodologies.
Requirements
  • Experience: 10 years of progressive experience, including at least one in a senior management or director-level role, preferably in a high-volume, complex, consumer-facing e-commerce environment.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science required, advanced degree preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent understanding of Cloud Native, Web, Mobile, and Continuous Delivery technologies, especially as they relate to e-commerce. Excellent understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Leadership: Strong inter-personal skills, including the ability to work in a cross-functional environment and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Talent Development: Demonstrated ability to drive clear action and ownership amongst large development teams. Eye for talent and a history of building high-performance development teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on technologist who can dive deep and hold their own with senior developers building a scalable product.
  • Decision-Making: Decisive, confident, and experienced with influencing others with a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership.
