About the Role

The Corporate Strategic Initiatives group at MCAP is responsible for leading and supporting various corporate initiatives and other initiatives involving any of MCAP's lines of businesses. Specifically, our mandate includes the following key areas:

  • New business development, which may include mergers & acquisitions, developing new lending programs and sourcing capital;
  • Market research and economic outlooks;
  • Government relations and;
  • Corporate relationship management.

This position will be responsible for assisting the Sr. Director, CSI with such initiatives. Specifically, the Analyst will be responsible for the preparation of business cases and related term sheets, quantitative analysis (cash flow modelling/projections) and presentations. The Analyst will also be responsible for working with the appropriate business units to understand products and processes to support such initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the development and implementation of Corporate Strategic Initiatives, including:
  • Working with business units to understand processes and products as well as their needs;
  • Preparation of business cases, related term sheets and presentations;
  • Preparation of quantitative analysis, including cash flow modelling/projections;
  • Data mining and analysis;
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate solutions or alternatives when supporting management in decision making;
  • Identify efficiencies and assist in the build-out of new operational processes;
  • Effectively communicate results with working parties, including management, and;
  • Ad hoc requests.

Market Research and Reporting

  • Key contributor to the preparation of market research and analysis;
  • Research and obtain relevant economic and market data from various sources and summarize findings in a clear and concise manner;
  • Continuously stay current on market events and provide updates to management accordingly;
  • Coordinate the collection of data and reports from various internal parties to ensure reports are completed and submitted for review on a timely basis;
  • Preparation of reports and presentations that are tailored to their intended audience (board, clients and/or management);
  • Assist in the preparation of board package materials, and;
  • Ad hoc requests.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of working knowledge of mortgages;
  • Experience with capital markets, finance or accounting is an asset;
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint proficiency are required;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including proven ability to build and foster relationships;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Financial modelling skills, including DCF/NPV/IRR analysis;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills;
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Self-driven and motivated individual with the ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Carries out duties with integrity and takes responsibility for actions;
  • University Degree (Business, Economics, or Finance).
