Job Summary

Position Overview

The successful candidate will oversee the planning and coordination of human resources activities at The University of British Columbia. This role involves managing recruitment, appointment, promotion, and termination processes, as well as establishing relationships with HR personnel in other faculties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director and HR Manager to implement strategic HR plans and policies
  • Assess and improve administrative procedures and protocols
  • Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures
  • Manage recruitment, appointment, and promotion processes for faculty and staff
  • Provide guidance and advice on HR matters to supervisors and employees
  • Oversee the use of HR electronic systems and ensure data integrity
  • Manage the orientation process and develop content for HR-related websites
  • Ensure that the workplace meets safety standards and regulations
  • Participate in university committees and working groups

Faculty Appointment:

  • Manage faculty appointment, promotion, and tenure processes, including drafting documentation and providing advice on faculty ranks

Staff and Student Employment:

  • Manage staff and student employment activities, including providing guidance to supervisors on HR matters
  • Address performance and attendance issues in a fair and timely manner

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as human resources, business administration, or a related discipline
  • 2-3 years of experience in human resources or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
