Position Overview
Combined Metal Industries is seeking a highly motivated and customer-oriented Trader Trainee to be part of our growth-focused team and help drive the company's success through the trading of metal products.
The Trader Trainee will engage in both individual and collaborative efforts to establish sustainable business relationships by fostering long-term trading partnerships.

Trader Trainee Training Program
Successful candidates will be onboarded as Trader Trainees and will engage in an extensive 8-12 month hands-on training program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the metal trading sector by:

  1. Acquiring the technical skills necessary for metal commodity trading.
  2. Developing strategies to cultivate and expand a customer portfolio.
  3. Understanding the dynamics of B2B sales, negotiations, and long-term relationship building.
  4. Applying analytical skills to enhance business with both existing and prospective clients.
  5. Marketing materials for maximum value.
  6. Building robust relationship management skills for after-sale services.
  7. Organizing your portfolio effectively to drive growth.
Key Responsibilities of a Commodity Trader
  1. Establishing and nurturing professional relationships with external stakeholders, including cold-calling and qualifying prospects.
  2. Leading, developing, and supporting trading initiatives.
  3. Negotiating pricing and sales with clients.
  4. Continuously generating innovative trading ideas by identifying arbitrage opportunities.
  5. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of market trends.
  6. Managing trading positions while balancing risk and financing.
  7. Collaborating with the operations team to ensure seamless transactions.
  8. Traveling to client locations to maintain relationships with existing clients.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Fluency in French is considered an asset.
  2. A degree in finance, business, or a related field is preferred.
  3. Previous experience in a role requiring influence over others' decisions is advantageous, such as sales or account management.
  4. Experience in competitive sports or similar high-stakes environments is beneficial.
