We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Kennel Attendant at the Nova Scotia SPCA. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and serve food and water to animals
- Clean and disinfect animal enclosures, including cages, pens, and kennels
- Assist with animal vaccinations and medical treatments
- Monitor animal behavior and report any concerns to management
- Perform daily animal checks and provide enrichment activities
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with animals, preferably in a shelter or kennel setting
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and stand for extended periods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
This is a part-time position, with variable hours and shifts. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs). A veterinary assistant course is an asset.
