Job RoleAs a Loss Control Specialist at Verisk, you will play a critical role in helping insurance companies reduce the frequency and severity of losses arising from fire, crime, and liability. Your primary responsibility will be to assess residential and commercial properties to determine risks and provide recommendations for loss prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough property inspections to identify potential risks and hazards
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of building codes, fire services, construction, and maintenance
- Collaborate with clients to understand their property history, risks, and concerns
- Prepare detailed reports identifying construction and equipment details, risk assessment, and replacement cost value
- Continuously expand your expertise to assess more complex properties and contribute to the team's overall revenue goals
Requirements
- Education in insurance, construction, or engineering will provide a solid technical foundation
- Experience with building codes, fire services, construction, and maintenance will be an asset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for customer service and report writing
- Very good computer skills, including using a database, typing speed and accuracy, and word processing, are required for efficient report creation
- Ability to read, write, and speak both English and French is required
