About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Kennel Attendant at the Nova Scotia SPCA. As a key member of our animal care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care: Prepare and serve food and water to animals, clean and disinfect enclosures, and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all animals.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately record animal treatments, vaccinations, and other important information to ensure the animals receive the best possible care.
  • Assistance with Inoculations and Treatments: Assist our veterinary team with inoculations and treatments as needed.
  • Animal Handling: Safely handle and restrain animals for medical procedures, grooming, and other purposes.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and maintain animal enclosures, equipment, and facilities to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a related field.
  • Work Setting: Animal shelter.
  • Physical Demands: Physically demanding, with frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
