About the Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and the broader community to ensure the school is culturally responsive.

As a key member of the school leadership team, the Principal will be responsible for being innovative and creative in establishing systems and structures to foster academic development and improve students' social and emotional development.

The Principal will also be responsible for engaging a diverse school community in the school's educational programs and building networks with other agencies, including involvement in the West Kimberley Network, and services in the community to benefit school programs.

About the School

Looma Remote Community School is a unique and dynamic school located in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The school services the Looma Aboriginal Community and the town of Camballin, and is committed to providing a comprehensive educational program for all students.

The school is part of the Kimberley Schools Project, which involves the four pillars of Targeted Teaching, Attendance, Community Engagement, and Early Years. The school also delivers best-practice education for students with special needs and has a strong focus on ensuring the voice of Aboriginal parents is reflected in the actions and strategic directions of the school.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Establish and maintain a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and the broader community.
  2. Be innovative and creative in establishing systems and structures to foster academic development and improve students' social and emotional development.
  3. Engage a diverse school community in the school's educational programs and build networks with other agencies to benefit school programs.
  4. Manage and maintain education practices that ensure a comprehensive educational program for all students.
  5. Initiate and lead the review of school policies to support the inclusive engagement and full participation of students with disabilities.
Requirements

The successful applicant will have a strong background in education and leadership, with experience in working with Aboriginal communities. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a culturally responsive manner.

The applicant will need to have a strong understanding of the Kimberley Schools Project and the four pillars of Targeted Teaching, Attendance, Community Engagement, and Early Years. They will also need to have experience in managing and maintaining education practices that ensure a comprehensive educational program for all students.

The applicant will need to be able to work in a remote community and have a strong commitment to the school's values and mission.
