Role Overview

The Business Banking Manager will autonomously oversee a portfolio of business members within the designated region, focusing on their deposit and lending needs under the mentorship of a Senior Manager in Small Business Banking. Business clients, often referred to as Small Business Customers, typically require substantial deposit and cash management services and are prime candidates for cross-selling additional Coast Capital Savings (CCS) products and services. Borrowing limits generally do not exceed $250,000, although they may be higher depending on the security provided. The expected distribution of responsibilities is approximately 90% Portfolio and Risk Management and 10% Business Development.



Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and execute assigned tasks to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards while maintaining exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct effective risk monitoring and control of a portfolio of business clients through timely completion of annual credit reviews and ongoing monitoring of banking activities.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, including audit reviews.
  • Manage commercial loans and mortgage exposures by accurately booking limits in banking systems and ensuring appropriate security and documentation.
  • Enhance quality and profitability by expanding business with existing members and new customers referred by colleagues.
  • Foster and deepen customer relationships by effectively onboarding clients to CCS.
  • Promote cross-selling of business products to strengthen existing customer relationships.
  • Accurately process customer requests within specified timeframes.
  • Deliver proactive, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service.
  • Prepare documentation for everyday banking, lending, and investment products.
  • Identify and report potential risk issues.
  • Understand and comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Prevent losses due to fraud, counterfeiting, money laundering, or defalcation.
  • Develop and expand relationships with existing business members.
  • Collaborate actively with other business partners and branch contacts.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in financial services, including lending, commercial banking, portfolio management, and business development.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce, MBA, or other relevant qualifications is preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of commercial products (credit and deposits).
  • Basic knowledge of financial statements, accounting principles, and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with commercial credit analysis, policies, security, and legal procedures.
  • Basic understanding of deposit and cash management products.
