Position Overview

As a Security Engineering Manager within the Customer Identity division, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the security posture of our products and infrastructure. This position is integral to the Security team, collaborating across various departments to address security challenges that support the expansion of our global Customer Identity services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a geographically diverse security engineering team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Legal, and Product, to integrate robust data security and privacy measures into our offerings.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Okta's Customer Identity products, data architecture, and infrastructure.
  • Work in conjunction with the Okta Security team on security operations as needed.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable security infrastructure services for customer identity solutions.
  • Proactively assess risks by thinking like an attacker and provide guidance on mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in data security investigations in partnership with the Security, Privacy, and Legal teams, contributing to root cause analysis and necessary remediation efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing security engineering teams.
  • Proven expertise in data security, cloud security, or infrastructure security.
  • Experience in conducting threat modeling and code reviews.
  • Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure security architecture.
  • Knowledge of database principles, including SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing, and DBT.
  • Experience with security automation and orchestration.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, or JavaScript.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with remote and globally distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data pipelines and event streaming platforms like Kafka.
  • Full-stack engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in writing and deploying Terraform code.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) concepts.

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual salary range for this position is between $139,000 and $209,000 CAD, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. Okta also offers equity, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, RRSP matching, healthcare spending, telemedicine, and paid leave.
