Platform Security Software Engineer II

Abnormal Security Corporation is seeking a Platform Security Software Engineer II who possesses strong software development skills and a keen interest in Security & Privacy. This role is integral to the Platform Security team, which is responsible for the Security and Privacy platform services and infrastructure that uphold industry standards for the company's security posture and the protection of customer data. The successful candidate will be tasked with designing, developing, and deploying Secure Service to Service communication frameworks and tools, as well as Customer Data Security & Privacy workflows. Additionally, this role will involve integrating these solutions with Security Operational analytics and auditing services to ensure the protection and security of Abnormal's infrastructure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A security-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify potential vulnerabilities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency in translating Security & Privacy requirements into technical specifications and managing the end-to-end execution of projects.
- The capability to foster and promote cross-team collaboration with product engineering teams to implement security best practices and develop secure-by-design platform services and components.
- Opportunities for professional growth into a Senior Software Engineer role, with increased scope, impact, and leadership responsibilities.
- Lead the development and delivery of Platform Security features, services, and components for Abnormal's microservices, including Zero-Trust networking, Secure Service to Service communications, Customer Data Security & Privacy, and Secret Management.
- Design and create secure and scalable integration frameworks and tools to connect Abnormal's ecosystem with external applications such as Salesforce, Slack, GitHub, and Zoom, facilitating a Secure by Design Multi Product Platform.
- Integrate Platform and Infrastructure components with Security Operational analytics and auditing tools, including Okta, Dazz, Splunk, and SIEM.
- Leverage prior industry experience to contribute to the Platform Security team and the broader Platform & Infrastructure division roadmap.
- Balance Platform and Security requirements to construct a secure platform while enabling global engineering teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently.
- Participate in vendor evaluation and selection for software purchases in critical areas such as VPN solutions, Just In Time access, and other Security monitoring tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer.
- Strong foundation in Computer Science and programming principles.
- Experience with system design and cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Golang and Python programming languages.
- A proven history of leading feature development and delivering high-quality software solutions.
- Familiarity with Authentication & Authorization and Network Security best practices and technologies.
- Understanding of distributed computing, CAP theorem, and system design trade-offs.
- Ability to distinguish between essential and non-essential Security and Privacy requirements.
