Service Estimator II Job Summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a skilled Service Estimator II to join our team in Laval, QC. As a key member of our service team, you will work closely with Trane Account Managers and building owners to provide estimates and quotes for HVAC service projects and agreements.

This is a hybrid work schedule position, with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Create detailed quotes for service agreements and quoted works in support of our Service Account Managers and Controls Service Account Managers.
  2. Develop cost estimates consisting of materials, sub-contractors, purchased equipment, labor, and other construction-related activities to assist Account Managers in bidding on or determining project price.
  3. Develop detailed scope based on Account Managers' design-build scope, including system sketches, scope definition, exceptions/exclusions, preliminary proposal, vendor/sub-contractor quotes, and points list.
  4. Responsible for take-off and pricing of purchased equipment to ensure accuracy of quantity, size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
  5. Identify possible cost-saving opportunities and/or risk items that will occur on various projects.
  6. Develop scope of work for sub-contractors and optimize job costs by negotiating prices with vendors/sub-contractors through quotations for materials and services.
  7. Hold job pre-bid meeting with Account Managers to review scope, strategy, etc.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's or Associate's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related study preferred with a minimum of 3-5 years' related experience; or technical certificate with 5 years' related experience; or HVAC Technician experience with a combination of education and related field experience.
  2. Working knowledge of all facets of construction, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc.
  3. Experience with financial and business acumen and a history of running projects on time and on budget.
  4. Experience working directly with building owners is a plus.
  5. Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
  6. Must be able to travel locally on occasion and possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations.
