About the Job

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Surrey, BC. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in keeping our trucks and motorized equipment up and running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, CNG, gas, and electrically-operated trucks and associated heavy-duty equipment
  • Use various power tools, hand instruments, and cutting-edge equipment
  • Complete daily reports, work orders, and order necessary parts
  • Plan and schedule repairs in M5 planner and procure parts
  • Assist in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • Experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently, and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending, and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, and climb
