Job Title: Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at United Engineering Ltd. in Victoria, British Columbia.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating manual and CNC equipment to achieve precise dimensions on finished parts in accordance with supplied drawings, technical documentation, and verbal instructions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical disassembly/assembly as required to repair equipment.
  • Set-up and operate lathes, milling machines, boring mills, and line boring equipment.
  • Follow procedures to achieve precise dimensions in accordance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret drawings, technical documentation, verbal instructions, and determine machining processes and sequence of operations to be performed in order to achieve customer requirements.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, verniers, and dial indicators.
  • Calculate cutting speeds, hole layouts, dimensions, tolerances, and determine tooling requirements required to machine various grades of material.
  • Complete any required documentation.
  • Clean and maintain equipment.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Red Seal Journeyman Machinist trade certificate an asset.
  • Experience operating manual machines in a job shop environment as an asset.
  • Experienced in jobber shop repair environment as an asset.
