Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Lead to join our team at YMCA Calgary. As a Program Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily program for camp groups, providing support and supervision to counselors, and ensuring the overall success of our outdoor education programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily program for camp groups, including making changes due to weather, availability, and group situation
  • Provide support and supervision to counselors, including behavior management and parent/teacher contact
  • Support campers through education and encouragement of healthy behaviors, including risk management, outdoor and community living, and physical skills and literacy
  • Work collaboratively with the CCH or Riveredge Coordinator or Supervisor to ensure the success of the program
Requirements
  • Experience working with children to facilitate inclusion within outdoor-based programs
  • Experience leading and/or supervising counselors in expedition-focused programs
  • Previous experience working with people of all abilities and a solid understanding of the integration process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months) at minimum
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Three professional references
