We are currently seeking a Water Resources Specialist to enhance our Water Resources Group in Fort McMurray, Alberta. This role involves contributing to the design and execution of hydrology, hydrogeology, and climate aspects of our environmental management initiatives in Northern Alberta.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Adhere to Hatfield's Health and Safety Management Plan, legal standards, and client safety protocols.
  2. Develop, execute, and oversee field programs essential for hydrogeologic, hydrologic, or climate monitoring.
  3. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to gather data assessing potential impacts related to projects and climate change on water resources and environmental integrity.
  4. Analyze and interpret hydrogeologic, hydrometric, or climate data, and prepare detailed technical reports.
  5. Provide expert guidance on environmental monitoring and permitting processes.
  6. Assist with ongoing data management and reporting activities.
  7. Engage in research and analytical tasks, including data collection, compilation, analysis, and modeling.
  8. Effectively communicate technical information in both verbal and written formats.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. A technical diploma, B.Sc. or higher in a relevant field such as sciences or engineering, with experience in hydrology, hydrogeology, or climatology. A minimum of 5 years of experience in water resource monitoring is preferred.
  2. Proven experience with hydrogeologic, hydrometric, or climate monitoring tools, including datalogger programming and telemetry systems.
  3. Experience in project management and coordination.
  4. Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior staff.
  5. Fieldwork experience, particularly in remote locations, is essential.
  6. Familiarity with Alberta and Federal regulatory frameworks is beneficial.
  7. Additional experience in construction environmental monitoring, soil, sediment, and environmental effects monitoring is an asset.
  8. A valid driver's license and the ability to operate 1/2 ton trucks are required.
Desirable Skills
  1. Proficiency with technology and a willingness to learn various environmental monitoring systems.
  2. Ability to work collaboratively in teams with diverse experience levels while maintaining a positive demeanor.
  3. Willingness to undertake extensive fieldwork in various weather conditions, including remote locations.
  4. Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic consulting environment and work overtime as needed.
  5. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following standard operating procedures for data collection.
  6. A valid Canadian driver's license and the ability to meet third-party automobile insurance requirements.
  7. Experience with jetboat operation is a plus but not mandatory.
