As a Principal Environmental Consultant or Geoscientist, you will be part of our Assessment, Remediation, Reclamation and Monitoring (ARRM) team in Fort St John, BC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote Matrix's strong safety culture by actively participating and driving it forward.
  • Oversee and/or technically support simple to complex site assessment, remediation and monitoring projects.
  • Foster internal communication and collaboration to ensure delivery of high-quality products that meet our clients' unique project needs.
  • Travel to the FSJ office monthly to support the team and provide mentorship (if remote).
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and communication with clients and project-related stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Contribute to the success of a collaborative team and proactively engage in development opportunities and career growth.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of ten (10) years' previous consulting experience in site assessment, reclamation, remediation, and monitoring projects in British Columbia.
  • Registration in or a member in good standing of a professional organization (EGBC).
  • Familiarity with preparing technical reports, work plans, and cost estimates.
  • Experience with borehole logging, sample collection, field screening, and sample selection.
  • Strong data evaluation skills and ability to make decisions based on findings.
  • Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Willingsness to provide technical direction and mentorship to more junior professionals.
  • A valid and clean class 5 driver's license with no restrictions.
  • Previous experience using field equipment including Global Positioning Systems, water and soil field screening equipment, and an aptitude for learning new digital data collection applications.
  • Preference given to those who have experience managing complex salt or hydrocarbon impacted sites and are registered with EGBC.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
