Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to deliver underwriting expertise and guidance to our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make informed pricing and risk selection decisions within your designated underwriting authority, adhering to company protocols.
- Provide guidance and support to junior underwriters.
- Review and assist in updating policy wordings in collaboration with Lloyds contracts.
- Gather background information and conduct thorough risk assessments.
- Utilize specialized software to analyze statistical data.
- Exercise sound judgment in underwriting decisions and negotiations.
- Establish premiums and prepare competitive insurance quotes.
- Draft policy wording and terms.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to enhance operational efficiency and achieve profitable underwriting outcomes.
- Maintain detailed records of underwritten policies and decision-making processes.
- Balance risk diversity to ensure predictability in future results.
- Comply with relevant insurance regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Possession of a valid CIP designation.
- Experience in British Columbia and Alberta is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, commercial liability, insurance policies, and commercial property.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to navigate all software utilized by the firm.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and listen effectively.
