Position Summary: Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is currently seeking an Asphalt Plant Operator. This role is based in a vibrant region known for its outdoor recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the asphalt plant safely and efficiently, utilizing button controls and computer-controlled blending systems to produce high-quality asphalt.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of various mix designs, aggregates, AC oils, and their respective test results.
- Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting on plant equipment and electrical components while ensuring worker safety and environmental standards are upheld.
- Engage in effective communication with team members regarding plant operations, asphalt order quantities, and any technical or mechanical concerns.
- Collaborate with the Quality Control department to guarantee the production of superior asphalt products.
- Perform daily inspections of the plant site, identifying and addressing any operational issues.
- Monitor outgoing trucks and maintain accurate records of asphalt production statistics.
- Complete daily reports detailing aggregate quantities and AC usage.
- Clean the plant after daily production targets are met.
- Order necessary materials such as asphalt oil, burner fuel, and aggregates based on project requirements.
- Execute other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Training in Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Aerial Lift, and Fall Arrest is advantageous.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in operating, repairing, and maintaining asphalt equipment is essential.
- Experience in a road construction environment is considered an asset.
