Culinary Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Culinary Specialist to oversee kitchen operations at Quality Inn & Suites High Level. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality meals and exceptional service.

- Working Hours: 30 to 44 hours per week
Education: Completion of a college, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program lasting 1 to 2 years.
Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a hotel, motel, or resort setting, providing a dynamic and fast-paced work atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage special events and functions.
- Assess food portion sizes and calculate costs effectively.
- Design menus and estimate food requirements for successful execution.
- Order and requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed.
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals and individual dishes.
- Prepare special meals for guests with dietary restrictions as directed.
- Conduct inspections of kitchens and food service areas to ensure compliance with standards.
- Train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe food handling practices.
- Supervise kitchen personnel and support staff.
- Maintain accurate inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen and work areas.
- Recruit and hire kitchen staff as necessary.
- Organize and manage buffets and banquets.
- Oversee overall kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
The role requires:
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to handle heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work overtime and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage repetitive tasks.
Applicants should have 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar role.
