Job Summary

The Transportation Supervisor is a key role within Canadian National Railway, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of train transportation within a designated territory or terminal. Main Responsibilities
  1. Safety and Compliance
    • Develop and implement safety protocols to minimize accidents and incidents

  2. Operational Management
    • Manage train schedules and crew assignments to ensure efficient and safe train operations
    • Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to optimize train performance
    • Collaborate with rail traffic control and other stakeholders to ensure smooth train operations and minimize delays
  3. Leadership and Supervision
    • Lead and develop a team of unionized employees, providing guidance and support to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their jobs safely and efficiently
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees to help them improve their performance
    • Develop and implement training programs to ensure employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs
  4. Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with rail traffic control, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth train operations and minimize delays
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as maintenance and engineering, to ensure that train operations are safe and efficient
Requirements

This role requires a strong background in transportation operations, with a focus on safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4+ years of experience in a transportation or logistics role
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and company policies
