Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to lead our team in the development and implementation of advanced air traffic management systems. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and deploying complex systems that ensure the safe and efficient movement of air traffic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of detailed technical plans, system designs, and specifications to improve or enhance our air traffic management systems.
  • Review and provide technical approval of concept and design documents.
  • Complete testing activities related to software updates and system configuration changes.
  • Provide technical expertise for assigned systems or provide life-cycle oversight to product managers of air traffic management systems.
  • Lead studies and investigations in technical topics related to remote pilotage and air traffic management to develop new solutions for unresolved problems.
  • Provide technical support for capital project definition and formulation of national strategies to meet operational needs.
  • Stay up-to-date on research in the air traffic management industry.
  • Provide prompt assistance to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems.
  • Provide second-level support to internal and external air traffic management system users.
  • Actively promote and contribute to a safety and quality culture within the team.
Requirements
  • Graduation with a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in electrical, electronics, communications, or computer engineering.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada.
  • 5 years of progressive experience on complex engineering projects.
  • Experience working in the development and testing of mission-critical systems, either in-house or through contractors.
  • Experience in a collaborative environment working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in the application of safety and quality management systems.
Knowledge and Skills
  • A strong knowledge of professional engineering standards and practice, theory, and principles of engineering science, and of the practices in specialized fields of engineering.
  • Knowledge of software system development, integration, and system testing.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, techniques, and disciplines for large projects.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of air navigation systems and overall system architecture and functionality, including air traffic management systems.
Abilities
  • Ability to write technical specifications, standards, statements of work, and other engineering documents.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and manage multiple priorities with tight or conflicting deadlines in an environment of multiple priorities.
  • Ability to research potential development solutions and best practices and to learn new technologies, domains, and tools.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize technical information, interpret the results of studies, develop strategies, and present recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
