Position Overview:

The Systems Team Lead position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day functions of their team, acting as a leader and mentor and ensuring they are happy, motivated and efficient. The ideal candidate also has a constant pulse on the business, generating reports and keeping an eye on critical metrics while liaising with other departments to ensure what we are delivering aligns with expectations.

The candidate, acting as an escalation point will lead by example, spearheading technical projects and working on daily tasks while liaising with customers as required. Communication is critical for this role which often acts as an intermediary between their team, customers and management.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Training, leading and mentoring a diverse team of systems administrators and technicians.
- Acting as an escalation point for technical issues, internal and customer related.
- Ensuring team alignment with the business by generating and reviewing daily/weekly/monthly reports and metrics, escalating concerns as needed.
- Scheduling regular meetings with team, collecting feedback and identifying development opportunities.
- Ensuring policies, procedures and proper escalation paths are followed by the team.
- Assisting in the hiring and training process for new team members.
- Assisting in researching and developing technical solutions to internal and customer issues.
- Ensuring the team is working on appropriate tasks and projects, prioritizing as needed.
- Ensuring customers are aware of service impacting issues and following up as needed.
- Monitoring appropriate systems and applications to ensure customers and teams are appropriately supported (ie. Connectwise, OpsGenie, Auvik, Huntress).
- Assisting account managers and sales engineers to develop customer solutions when required.
- Advocating for the local systems team's concerns with other departments.
- Participation in T3 on-call rotation.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

- 5+ Years of Experience in a Leadership/Management position.
- 5+ Years Windows System Administration experience.
- 2+ Years Linux System Administration experience.
- 2+ Years VOIP/Telephony experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent understanding of network and storage fundamentals.
- Ability to solve complex issues and stay calm under pressure.
- Strong focus on all aspects of security and compliance.
- Experience managing enterprise virtualized environments such as Proxmox, Hyper-V and VMware.
- Experience with Microsoft M365, Azure, Entra and related products.
- Experience administrating Windows Server and Active Directory (on prem).
- Experience deploying and managing NAS and SAN storage environments.
- Prior Experience in an MSP environment is an asset.
- Prior Experience with Connectwise Manage is an asset.
- Must have a vehicle, valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
