Five Counties Children’s Centre (FCCC) has been dedicated to supporting children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs for nearly five decades. In partnership with families and communities, FCCC provides outpatient and community-based services to enrich the independence and wellness of those it serves ~ Building Abilities for Life.

FCCC assesses and treats clients from infancy to their late teens, offering a wide variety of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy speech and language therapy, social work and therapeutic recreation. FCCC provides treatment in schools, in the community, and at locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg, Campbellford, and Minden.

FCCC is proud of the partnerships they have developed within the community. These partnerships have assisted families in our communities to access additional services that are needed to assist with their child’s development.

About the Job

Five Counties Children’s Centre is accepting applications for full-time, permanent Speech-Language Pathologists at the Peterborough location.

In this position, you will:

- provide in-centre, school-based, purchased rehabilitation services or a combination of these services;

- provide assessment, training and consultation for clients with therapy needs as well as consultation, training or education to caregivers and other professionals; and

- have the opportunity to participate as a member of the discipline, clinical multidisciplinary and resource committees to promote quality service for children.

Your Key Responsibilities

- Assessment and reassessment of clients with speech, language, feeding, fluency, nasality or voice therapy.

- Provide a service plan for client care (including training, recommendations and discharge) in consultation with the client’s caregiving team (including family, primary therapists, school and other agencies).

- Lead facilitator training workshops.

- Authorize low-tech equipment through the Communication Aides category of the Assistive Devices Program of the Ministry of Health.

What You Bring

- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario

- Paediatric, in-centre and school-based rehabilitation service experience considered an asset, but not required

- The ability to read and speak French and provide virtual therapy is an asset.

- The demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with FCCC staff and with community partners, agencies and professionals in the community

- Experience and understanding of a Family Centred Care model of service delivery

- Solution Focused Coaching training is considered an asset

- Experience working with clients/families with ASD and the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) is considered an asset.

- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work as part of a team with professionals, support staff, and other community agencies

- Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task

- Access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel to a variety of locations

- Clear vulnerable sector check and proof of updated immunizations including COVID-19 (two doses)
