About the Job:

We are accepting applications for a full-time, permanent Speech Language Pathologist in our Peterborough location.

In this position, you will provide in-centre, school based, purchased rehabilitation services and/or a combination of these services. You will provide assessment, training and consultation for clients with therapy needs as well as consultation, training and/or education to caregivers and other professionals. You will have the opportunity to participate as a member of the discipline, clinical multidisciplinary and resource committees to promote quality service for children.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assessment and reassessment of clients with speech, language, feeding, fluency, nasality and/or voice therapy.
  • Provide service plan for client care (including training, recommendations and discharge) in consultation with the client's caregiving team (including family, primary therapists, school and other agencies).
  • Lead facilitator training workshops.
  • Authorize low tech equipment through the Communication Aides category of the Assistive Devices Program of the Ministry of Health.
  • Supervise Communicative Disorders Assistants

What You Bring:

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Paediatric, in-centre and school-based rehabilitation service experience considered an asset, but not required.
  • Ability to read and speak French and provide virtual therapy is an asset.
  • The demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with FCCC staff and with community partners, agencies and professionals in the community.
  • Experience and understanding of a Family Centred Care model of service delivery.
  • Solution Focused Coaching training is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with clients/families with ASD and the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to work as part of a team with professionals, support staff, and other community agencies.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel to a variety of locations.
  • Clear vulnerable sector check and proof of updated immunizations including COVID-19 (two doses).
