This group functions as a critical support hub during wildfire season, ensuring that communication flows clearly and consistently between field crews, coordination centres, and aviation resources. The team values collaboration, resilience, and mutual support, creating a diverse and inclusive environment where members rely on one another to manage demanding workloads, maintain safety protocols, and uphold the high standards required in wildfire response operations. The Role In this role, the Dispatcher is a key contributor to the BC Wildfire Service’s operational readiness, serving as the central communication point connecting wildfire crews, aircraft, and coordination centres. The work is fast paced and often demanding, particularly during periods of heightened wildfire activity, where steady focus and clear communication are essential to supporting safe and effective field operations. Dispatchers monitor and relay critical radio traffic, track aircraft movement, process fire reports, and activate emergency procedures when required, all while coordinating pre-planned response actions and maintaining accurate operational records.
